Skala Kallonis, which is the natural extension of the town to the picturesque gulf of Kalloni, boasts an organized beach, ideal for families with children. The gulf of Kalloni, protected by UNESCO, provides shelter to hundreds of birds, from early April to October. The most significant are Garganey, Black-winged Stilt, Little and Temminck's Stint, Curlew and Wood Sandpiper, Little Ringed and Kentish Plover, Gray and Black-headed Wagtail, Citrine Wagtail, Glossy Ibis, Whiskered, White-winged, Short-toed Lark, Olivaceous Warbler, Great Reed Warbler, White and Black Stork, Avocet, Great White and Little Egret, Gray Heron, Terns, Gulls, Greenshank, nesting Stone Curlew, Corn and Black-headed Bunting, Wagtails and Wheatears, Great Crested and Black-necked Grebe, and Mute Swans, 

Apart from birdwatching, The Monasteries of Leimonos and Panagias Myrsiniotissas are very popular destinations in the vicinity, both of significant religious and historical importance.
